HOW TO KEEP THE SABBATH CORRECT

Ex 20:8,Ex 31:13-16,Lev 19:30,Lev 19:3,Gen 2:3,Lev 26:2,Lev 23:3,Isa 56:4-6,Ex 23:12,Ex 16:23-30

It is obvious that we must keep the Sabbath on the 7th day of the week.

That is "friday" sunset/down to "saturday" sunset/down.

How do you spend your time on this day?

Resting from work, labour, housework (all forms of cooking), business (buying and selling) and resting from "making a living"

We must not add or remove from the scriptures.

We can not make the sabbath into something that the scripture does not imply.

We can not impose our own laws and traditions of men upon the sabbath.

The sabbath is what the scriptures say it is. Nothing more and nothing less.

The scriptures tell us specifically what we can do and can not do.

Christ and Paul warn us to watch out for "Pharisees" who will impose the traditions and rulings of men upon people. They do this out of a spirit of fear, religiousness or craving power / influence.

Read about this in Mat.23 and Col. 2:20-23.

Ex.20:8-11

Exo 20:8  Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9  Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10  But the seventh day is the sabbath of The Most High thy Power: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11  For in six days The Most High made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore The Most High blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Ex.31:12-17

12 And The Most High spake unto Moses, saying,

13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am The Most High that doth sanctify you.

14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

Questions:

#1 Must we focus on The Most High ONLY on the sabbath?

Yes or No?

#2 MUST we have gatherings SPECIFICALLY on the Sabbath, according to the law?

Is there a scripture on that?

#3 Is it forbidden to have "pleasure" on the Sabbath?

Isa 58:13

If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words

What are the forbidden "pleasures"?

The forbidden pleasures are the forbidden things that are already described in the law

nothing other than that.

MEANING: YOU MUST REST FROM EVERYTHING RELATED TO:

WORKING, LABOUR, HOUSEWORK (all forms of cooking), BUSINESS, BUYING SELLING, MAKING A LIVING

So with this understanding:

Can you hug your loved ones on the sabbath?

Can you hug your wife/husband on the sabbath?

Can you kiss your wife/husband on the sabbath?

Can you eat on the sabbath?

Can you drink on the sabbath?

Can you drink alcohol (wine, etc) on the sabbath?

Can you play on the sabbath?

Can children play and run on the sabbath?

Can you visit the sick?

Can you study the scriptures on the sabbath?

Can you sing on the sabbath?

Can you walk on the sabbath?

Can you have intercourse on the sabbath?

!!! YES !!!

What is the meaning of:

Mark 2:27

And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

Col.2:16

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Mark 2:27,Col 2:16,Deut 5:14,Luke 6:9,Ezek 20:12,Ezek 20:20,Isa 58:13,

Ex 23:12,John 7:23,Neh 9:13-14,1 Cor 3:21-22,2 Cor 4:15

What about the Book of Jubilees 50:8
And the man that does any work on it shall die: whoever desecrates that day, whoever lies with (his) wife (meaning: HAVING SEX), or whoever says he will do something on it, that he will set out on a journey thereon in regard to any buying or selling: and whoever draws water thereon which he had not prepared for himself on the sixth day, and whoever takes up any burden to carry it out of his tent or out of his house shall die.

Another scripture ....

Jubilees 50:12-13?

And every man who does any work thereon, or goes a journey, or tills (his) farm, whether in his house or any other place, and whoever lights a fire, or rides on any beast, or travels by ship on the sea, and whoever strikes or kills anything, or slaughters a beast or a bird, or whoever catches an animal or a bird or a fish, or whoever fasts or makes war on the Sabbaths:The man who does any of these things on the Sabbath shall die, so that the children of Israel shall observe the Sabbaths according to the commandments regarding the Sabbaths of the land, as it is written in the tablets, which He gave into my hands that I should write out for thee the laws of the seasons, and the seasons according to the division of their days.

That's strange ....

About the book of Jubilees:

The Book of Jubilees claims to present "the history of the division of the days of the Law, of the events of the years, the year-weeks, and the jubilees of the world" as revealed to Moses (in addition to the Torah or "Instruction") by angels while he was on Mount Sinai for forty days and forty nights.

This means that Moses was supposed to die too, because he fasted on 4 sabbaths when he was 40 days and 40 nights on the mountain with The Most High.

And than Christ was also supposed to die when he fasted 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness.

Because he also fasted on 4 sabbaths.

So how do we deal with the book of Jubilees?

We must handle the book of Jubilees with care;

first of all: Jubilees is a secondary book

second of all: whatever is in line with the primary books (Thora), we can accept. What ever contradicts, we must "park it". Don't throw it away. Just "park it" till further revelation is received.

CONCLUSION:

HOW DO YOU KEEP THE SABBATH HOLY?

by doing what the scripture says

not by keeping man made traditions, laws and regulations

Breaking the scriptural rules and / or keeping man made regulations is defilement of the sabbath.

Just stick to the rules that are mentioned in Thora and what Christ and the Apostles modeled.

The sabbath is a day of rest physically and mentally

It is a day of relieving of stress and frustration

It's a day of restoration

It's a day of enjoying at home

Chilling on the sabbath

It's perfect for any type of family time, intercourse, social time, spiritual gatherings.

note: spiritual gatherings and Bible studies outside of your own house on the sabbath

is NOT a requirement.

It is NOT a must.

Col.2:16

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

The sabbath is a delight, not a burden or affliction.
